What an Ayurveda Detox Is, and What It Isn’t
An Ayurveda detox isn’t a juice fast or a punishing boot camp. In Ayurveda, cleansing means giving your digestion a rest, supporting the body’s natural ways of clearing what it doesn’t need, and resetting the daily rhythm you live by.
A five-day retreat draws on the preparation principles of Panchakarma, Ayurveda’s classical cleansing system: warm, simple food, oil therapies, herbal steam, rest and quiet. It is a reset, not a full course of medical Panchakarma. If you want to understand the difference, read What Is Panchakarma? Ayurveda’s Five Cleansing Therapies Explained.
You eat three meals a day. The reset comes from what you take away: rushing, heavy food, screens and noise.
Who It’s For
Our Ayurveda Detox Retreat was designed for founders, entrepreneurs and professionals who spend most of their time thinking, deciding and performing. People come when they feel mentally overloaded, caught in constant decision-making, in the middle of a transition, or simply in need of space away from their usual routine.
No yoga or Ayurveda experience is needed.
Where It Happens
The retreat takes place at Grün Uluwatu, a quiet forest property in the south of Bali, about 40 minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Guests stay in treehouse rooms surrounded by greenery, with a sauna and jacuzzi on site, and private airport transfers are included.
Five Days, Day by Day
Day 1: Arrival and self-awareness
After a short orientation and welcome ceremony, every guest has a 45-minute one-to-one consultation with our Ayurvedic physician: an assessment of your constitution and current state, from sleep and digestion to energy and stress. The rest of the week is shaped by what this assessment shows. The day ends with a dinner designed to balance all three doshas.
Days 2 and 3: Detox, rebalancing and connection
These are the core days, and they follow a steady rhythm:
- Morning detox ritual: warm water, Jala Neti (a gentle nasal rinse) and herbal tea.
- Hatha yoga and breathwork, followed by a light, easy-to-digest breakfast.
- A short daily check-in with the physician, to adjust food and treatments as your body responds.
- Body therapies: Abhyanga, a full-body oil massage, with herbal steam. Shirodhara is also part of the programme.
- A sattvic lunch, followed by time for journaling and rest.
- An afternoon Ayurveda talk or workshop on constitution and daily rhythms.
- Sound healing at sunset, then a kitchari dinner and a calming herbal night ritual.
Day 4: Release and renewal
The morning rhythm continues, and in the afternoon each guest has a one-to-one closing session with the physician to review the week and talk through what to keep doing at home. The evening ends around a bonfire, with an Ayurveda talk on inner cycles.
Day 5: Integration and return
A final morning yoga session and a shared breakfast, then a closing ceremony with a herbal gift to take home. Guests leave around midday.
What You Eat
Meals are Ayurvedic, made with organic local ingredients and adjusted to your dosha. Breakfasts are light, lunches are sattvic (fresh, simple and calming) and dinners often centre on kitchari, a traditional dish of rice and mung beans that is easy to digest and a staple of Ayurvedic cleansing. Herbal teas run through the day. For the principles behind it, see our guide to the Ayurvedic diet.
What People Take Home
The point of a reset is what happens afterwards. Our lead physician, Dr. Roshan, describes the aim like this:
It’s not about strict discipline, but about returning to balance in a way that feels kind, honest, and lasting.
Dr. Roshan, Ayurvedic physician
In 2026, more than ten founders and executives joined us for this retreat. One of them, Rick Chung, Co-Founder and Managing Director of the executive search firm Captar Partners, stayed calm through a situation at home that would normally have made him angry, and his wife noticed the difference on the phone. We tell the full story in Beyond DISC and MBTI: What Founders and Executives Learned From Ayurveda.
Our founder, ChenChi Lai, built the retreat around her own experience of running a business:
Sometimes the most useful reset does not start with another business strategy. It starts with understanding yourself better.

How to Prepare
- In the week before: cut back gradually on caffeine, alcohol and sugar, and try to sleep a little earlier. Your first days will feel easier.
- Arrange cover: set an out-of-office reply and hand over what you can. The retreat works best when you are genuinely offline.
- Book your flight into Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) to land before 10 am on the opening day, so we can transfer you in time.
- Pack simply: loose, comfortable clothes, swimwear for the sauna and jacuzzi, and any personal medication.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is an Ayurveda detox retreat a fast?
No. You eat three nourishing meals a day. The cleansing comes from simple, easy-to-digest food, oil therapies, rest and a steady daily rhythm.
Can I come on my own?
Yes. The retreat is open to individuals, and groups are kept small, so you get to know everyone.
Can I bring my leadership team?
Yes. For groups of 10 to 30, Leaders Reset is a private, physician-led version of the retreat for one organisation at a time.
Is this a medical treatment?
No. Our retreats offer education and lifestyle guidance. They are not medical treatment and don’t replace care from your own doctor. If you have a medical condition or take regular medication, check with your doctor before you come, and let our physician know at your consultation.
